Through generous donor funding and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, BGCCVI is pleased to offer a range of virtual programs to support children, youth, parents and caregivers in communities across Vancouver Island.
On a daily basis, many queer youth are faced with discrimination, harassment and violence at home, in their communities, and at school. As well, many queer youth are experiencing high rates of depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and substance at an alarmingly high rate. We as allies want to minimize the risk that the queer youth in our community face. This was the idea behind the creation of the group Generation Q.
Our mission is to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive space that allows youth to connect, and openly express their concerns regarding issues impacting their lives and the LGBTQQIP2SAA community. As service providers, and members of the community we have an obligation to talk openly and honestly about issues facing queer youth, and work together to do everything we can to eliminate those fears and work together to initiate positive change.
Online GenerationQ will run on Wednesday evenings (6:30-8:30pm) starting January 6th, 2021.
Please note there is no cost to participate in this program.
Our current sessions are full at this time. Follow us on social media for updates on current and future programming options.
