For Immediate Release
Ian Kalina to Retire from Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Vancouver Island.
(Nanaimo, B.C.) June 10, 2019. After more than 15 years as Executive Director with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Vancouver Island, Ian Kalina is hanging up his cleats and putting on his mountain climbing shoes, retiring in January 2020. “I am proud and privileged to have worked with such an amazing organization. Fifteen years is the longest term I have worked anywhere. I can’t believe where we have come from during that time.” said Kalina.
The club has tripled in size and he facilitated two amalgamations with the Ladysmith and Comox Valley clubs to form the organization it is today. “Under his leadership and with the excellent work done by staff, BGCCVI is a totally different organization. This year our budget is close to $5,000,000. We have expanded and now have clubs in Ladysmith, the Comox Valley and of course Nanaimo. We have approximately 100 people working in our clubs. That is something to be proud of,” said Lynne Brown, President Board of Directors BGCCVI.
“I am most proud of the strategic partnerships we have with the Town of Ladysmith, the City of Nanaimo, the Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre, Mid-Island Metis Nation, Loaves and Fishes Food Bank and the Vancouver Island West School District. We have done remarkable work!” said Kalina.
The Board has hired KCI, an Executive Search Company with in-depth experience and a proven track record in the not for profit sector.
