week two:

Parks & Nature

Clue #1:

Across a narrow path the ocean calls,
With rocky shores and driftwood halls.
Walk the spit where tides divide the land —
Find the lagoon where islands greet the sand.

Clue #2:

I’m not a mountain like Benson so tall,
But I still rise above the city for all.
Climb my short-but-sweet trail to reach the top,
Where Nanaimo’s harbour views just never stop.

Clue #3:

My name sounds like breakfast, rich and sweet,
But birds and turtles are what you’ll meet.
Walk the loop where wetlands grow —
A marsh with a name that sounds like something you'd eat.

Clue #4:

Travel south to Ladysmith town,
Where trains roll by and kids cool down.
Near the shore where fountains spray —
Find the park where families play all day.

Clue #5:

To reach this beach you must go down,
Step after step from high in town.
To driftwood shores and ocean rough.
Find the beach tucked below the hill.

Clue #6:

A forest path that leads to sea,
Where islands rest across the bay.
Watch the water if luck is near —
Sea lions sometimes gather here.

Clue #7:

A lake beneath a mountain tall,
Where runners, walkers, and swimmers call.
Find the place where Nanaimo hikes begin.

Clue #8:

Two quiet lakes among tall trees,
Once tied to Nanaimo’s mining days.
Find the dam where forest trails begin.

Clue #9:

When the tide goes out it runs away,
Revealing sand for half the Parksville bay.
Walk far out near world-class ocean retreats —
Find the park famous for its endless beach.

Clue #10:

A winding trail along the shore,
With rocky cliffs and sandstone doors.
Explore the caves the tide has worn.
