I’m a professional accountant in public practice in Nanaimo. Much of my work entails assisting people and small businesses with personal and corporate income tax planning and filings. I often help people deal with the tax consequences of going through major life events, including starting a new job, getting married or divorced, moving to a new city, having children, and dealing with a death of a loved one. My previous experience was in front line retail management, where I used financial statements to understand how to improve operations and ensure stakeholder satisfaction. I bring that same approach to the board of BGCCVI.
I had the privilege to join the BGCCVI board in 2015 as treasurer. I’ve previously served as treasurer for a local Certified General Accountant chapter.
Reason for choosing to be a BGCCVI Board Member
Sadly, there are many children in Canada living in poverty. As a father, I want to help ensure that the children growing up alongside my son and daughter are well cared for and have opportunities to thrive. The BGCCVI provides safe and supportive environments for youth of all ages, helping prepare them for everything life has to offer, and I am excited to play a small role in that.
