Explore Nanaimo and spell out your name using letters found on signs around town! Take photos of each letter and arrange them to create your name. (Bonus points for creative sign choices or interesting letter styles!)
3. Hidden Faces– 10 pts
Head out to your favourite outdoor Nanaimo location and take a photo of something that looks like a face… but isn’t a face!
4. Take a Photo with a Giant Object – 10 pts
Find a sculpture, structure, or oversized item in Nanaimo (like the big chairs at Country Club Mall or the totem poles at Maffeo Sutton) and strike a pose with it.
5. Frame the View – 10 pts
Use your hands or something you bring (like a picture frame or paper cutout) to "frame" a beautiful view in Nanaimo. Snap a photo of your chosen “framed” scene and tell us why you picked it.
6. Chalk the City – 15 pts
Use sidewalk chalk to create a colorful scene, message, or design in a public space like a park, sidewalk, or trail entrance. Bonus points for something Nanaimo-inspired—like a seaplane, Nanaimo bar, or forest scene. Snap a photo of your creation before it disappears!

Capture your favorite Nanaimo view in a drawing or painting—whether it’s the harbor, your neighborhood, or a park you love. Take a photo of your finished artwork alongside the real-life inspiration (or where you imagined it!).
8. Discover a Nanaimo Artist – 10 pts
Find a piece of art created by a Nanaimo-based artist, either in person (like a mural, gallery, or installation) or online (like a website or social media account). Share a photo or screenshot and tell us the artist’s name and what you liked about their work.
9. Make a Color-Themed Photo Collage – 10 pts
Pick a color and go on a walk to photograph as many things in that color as you can. Create a collage (in an app or by arranging your photos) and share your final “color hunt” masterpiece.
10. Wildcard Challenge: Where Creativity Begins – 20 pts
Visit the local shop or space that makes you feel most creative or inspired—maybe it’s a craft store, yarn shop, cozy bookstore, or downtown boutique bursting with colour. Snap a photo of your visit and tell us what sparks your creativity there.
