Great Futures Early Learning Program

This is a licensed program available for children when they reach 30 months until they enter Kindergarten.

BGCCVI’s Early Childhood programs follow the goals and objectives as described in the BC Early Learning Framework. This framework identifies four areas of early learning and sets out goals and objectives:  Well-being and Belonging, Exploration and Creativity, Language and Literacy, Social Responsibility and Diversity.

Program Description

BGCCVI’s high quality early years programs provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that promotes children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. Our programs promote a play-based model of learning and follow the goals and objectives as outlined in the BC Early Learning Framework.

The four focus areas identified in the Early Learning Framework are:

Well-being and Belonging: Nurturing a sense of well-being and belonging supports children as they learn about and investigate the world around them.

Exploration and Creativity: Children construct meaning as they engage with materials, other children and adults, the environment, the community, and the world.

Language and Literacy: Children use multiple modes of expressive languages to communicate ideas, participate in relationships, and make meaning in their homes and communities.

Social Responsibility and Diversity: A positive personal and cultural identity is the awareness, understanding, and appreciation of all the facets that contribute to a healthy sense of oneself.

Learning Outcomes

  • Increase Social/Emotional Development – by learning to play and interact cooperatively
  • Increase Physical Activity & Nutrition – by engaging in group and individual physical activities
  • Increase Language & Cognitive Development – by learning to think and problem solve independently; by providing opportunities for experimenting, investigating and inquiring in a meaningful way and by focusing on early literacy activities.
